Adnaan Morris

President
Adnaan Morris has been a members of Young Men Sporting Club since his early childhood and took to the stage for his first time in 1984. He has served on the Executive of YMSC since his early twenties as Captain, Secretary, Manager, PRO and Vice President. He ascended to Presidency in 2025 and has also served on the Executive of the Cape Malay Choir Board as Media Rep and Manager. Adnaan works in IT and brings a wealth of experience to the Executive, moving the YMSC into the digital age by setting up a team web page in the 90's and ushering in a new age within YMSC.

Waafiq Brink

Vice President
Waafiq Brink has been a dedicated member of the Young Men Sporting Club since 2004. In 2010, he became the lead singer of the Nederlands Lied, leading the choir to multiple first-place victories in various choral competitions. Throughout his journey, Waafiq has held several key positions on the Young Men’s Executive Council, including Assistant Secretary, Trustee, and Manager, and has now risen to the role of Vice President.

Thaabied Dante

Secretary
Thaabied Dante arrived at Young Men Sporting Club in 2022. With 25 years of service to the fraternity, he brings a wealth of administrative experience having served as Executive Secretary, Disciplinary Committee Vice Chairman and Nederlands Committee Secretary of the Cape Malay Choir Board. His porfolio includes coaching the Nederlands lied at various choirs since 2015 and this later included both the Combined Chorus and Moppie song. Mr. Dante currently serves as the General Secretary, Board Delegate and Coach at the club and has unequivocally proven his loyalty to the Young Men brand.

Waleed Sauls

Registration Secretary
Waleed Sauls has been a proud member of Young Men Sporting Club since the age of 16, taking the stage for the first time in 1993. For the past 10 years, he has served on the Executive, starting as Assistant Secretary and later becoming General Secretary. With his expertise in Records Management, Waleed keeps the club’s history in order. Now, as part of a fresh, diverse Executive—including female leadership—he continues to help shape the future of YMSC.

Abduragmaan Lakay

Registration Secretary
Abduragmaan Lakay an active member of the Young Men Sporting Club, joined in 2011, currently serving as Registration Secretary. He has been a dedicated part of the team’s growth and success. Over the years he has contributed significantly to the choir’s organizational development, playing an integral role in ensuring its smooth operations and continued vibrancy.

Aadielah Morris

Treasurer
Aadielah Morris has been a lifelong supporter and now member of the YMSC. Her father and brothers are active members and she met her husband who is the current coach at the team as well. This year has been momentous in that she has been elected as one of the first female executive members in the clubs long history. She has 13 years of management expertise in Logistics and her experience will add great value to the Treasury portfolio.

Abdurazak Arendse

Trustee
Abdurazak joined the Young Men team in 2009 and has been a dedicated member ever since. Starting as a first voice, Abdurazak continues to sing as a first voice to this day. He has also lent his talent as a backup comic singer for various gigs and minstrel competitions. One of his favorite comic songs to perform is "Bobbejaan". In addition to his musical contributions, Abdurazak currently holds the position of trustee on the executive team. His passion for music and performance, along with his leadership role, continues to drive his journey in the world of singing

Laeeq Desai

Trustee
Laeeq Desai started out at YMSC as a young junior standing on the side, with dreams and aspirations of one day being in the choir, to standing in the first row. Laeeq’s Malay choir journey has been a legacy in following his grandfather’s footsteps. 2025, Laeeq was elected as a trustee of the YMSC, Laeeq’s duty and responsibility is the assets of the organisation, and the effective management of the assets. Laeeq works as a scientist in his day to day life. He aspires to bring a new and innovative thought process to the organisation in making the club sustainable.

Shuaib Morris

Manager
Shuaib Morris is a third-generation lifelong member of the Young Men's Sporting Club. Shuaib was born into the Young Men SC, being the son of the late Abduraghmaan Morris. Being mentored, guided and molded by his father, Shuaib learned the industry and art of the Nederlands Lied and has been part of the coaching team that has produced quality Nederlands Liedere over the years. Shuaib was part of the CMCB. He was one of the members that was chosen to represent the Cape Malay choir board in Kazakhstan. Shuaib currently serves on the Young Men Sporting executive committee as a manager.

Muhsin Morris

Manager
Muhsin Morris has been a life long member , being born into the club Muhsin first took stage in 2002 at the age of 5. Muhsin is one of very few members that has a strong lineage to the club linking back to the Diedericks , Davids and Morris families. Muhsin has also brought innovation to the clubs social media and apparel. Having previously served as club captain , Muhsin has now been elected as the manager of the club.

Noor Begg

Club Captain
Noor Begg was a YMSC supporter since early 80's. In 2011 he decided to become a registered member of the club. In 2016 he became a additional member of the exco & is still part of the exco currently. He is a fun loving guy and earned the respect of the elders as well as the youth. Recently he was elected as Club Captain at the AGM & will surely set the example and lead the club to better heights while in that position. Mr Joker will always do everything in his power to keep the love & brotherhood within the Young Men family.

Zaahid Fagodien

Club Captain
Zaahid Fagodien first started with the team as a team mascot when he was 10 years old. After a hiatus, he joined the team again in 2023 as a fully fledged member. He is well liked among the youth members and has played a crucial role in the recruitment of new members. His dedication and enthusiasm has seen him win the “Most Promising Youth Member” award at the 2024 end of year Awards Presentation. At 17 years of age, he has been elected as one of the youngest Captains in the club’s history and alongside co-captain Noor Begg they will ensure that discipline is shown throughout.

Atheelah Arendse

Public Relations Officer
Atheelah was recently elected as a member and the Public Relations Officer (PRO) on the executive team. Guided by the quote, “You can't connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future,” Atheelah embraces the journey ahead, trusting that each experience will contribute to future success. With a passion for growth and leadership, she is excited to contribute to the team in her new role.

Yusuf Stellenboom

Co-Opted
Yusuf Stellenboom was introduced to the Malay Choir Fraternity at an early age by his late grandfather. He joined the Young Men Sporting Club as an active chorister in 2004 and started to serve on the Executive Committe as Trustee in 2010. He later took on the role as Treasurer managing the Club's finances, a portfolio he held since 2012. His current role at the Young Men Sporting Club is in a mentorship and advisory capacity to the current youthful Executive Committee.

Ismail Morris

Co-Opted
Ismail is a third generation YMSC member and has been active with the team since 1995. He has served on the Executive Committee as Secretary of the club from 2001 until 2023 when he was appointed as one of the coaches of the team. He has been working in IT since 2007 and has nearly 10 years Project Management experience. He regularly contributes at an executive level and is involved in the decision making of the team.
